To diet or not to diet, is that the question?

Diets abound and in the next several weeks there will be millions of people committing to adhering to at least one. There are numerous definitions of diet but the one most familiar to us is “a regimen of eating and drinking sparingly so as to reduce one’s weight”. This implies that it was not meant to be long-term; a diet ends when you have reduced your weight. And then what?? What often happens for most people is that the weight slowly comes back on, unraveling their hard work and weeks, possibly months of sacrifice. And then they think they have failed. But they did not. News flash!!!! Diets are not meant for everyone. The alternative? A food plan. If you are wanting to lose weight, your best strategy is to create a food plan that takes into consideration your food allergies, food sensitivities, lifestyle, cultural preference, budget, and your long-term goals. So, when should you diet? If you are trying to determine if you have a sensitivity to one or several food groups; if you are doing a gut cleanse that requires you to eat certain foods; if you are sure that the diet you are adhering to is one that you can continue indefinitely and without much effort. So, think twice about a diet. Your Life Coach here at Better Health Life Coaching can help you create your own, personalized food plan that will get you on the path to shedding those extra pounds and keeping them off.
